Eland Cables awarded ISO 14001 Environmental Certification
Eland Cables has achieved the prestigious ISO 14001 accreditation, illustrating our current and future commitment to minimising our environmental impact. The ISO 14001 international standard provides both a model for streamlining environmental management and guidelines to ensure environmental issues are considered within decision making practices.
Allan Cross, QA Manager, reflects on the achievements made at the Distribution Centre in Doncaster, “Investment in our pallet wrapping machinery means that we have achieved a 50% reduction on wrapping and we have also reduced the cardboard and plastic waste we send to landfill by 75%. In addition, all our scrap cable and wood is recycled, our plywood reels come from sustainable sources and our wooden drums are reused.”
Philip Brown, Managing Director, says, “It is very important to us that the efforts we continually put into reducing our impact on the environment have been documented. This will continue to be a focus as the company grows and we are proud to be one of a few companies in the UK cable industry to hold this accreditation.”
