Eland Cables awarded ISO 14001 Environmental Certification

Eland Cables has achieved the prestigious ISO 14001 accreditation, illustrating our current and future commitment to minimising our environmental impact. The ISO 14001 international standard provides both a model for streamlining environmental management and guidelines to ensure environmental issues are considered within decision making practices.
Allan Cross, QA Manager, reflects on the achievements made at the Distribution Centre in Doncaster, “Investment in our pallet wrapping machinery means that we have achieved a 50% reduction on wrapping and we have also reduced the cardboard and plastic waste we send to landfill by 75%. In addition, all our scrap cable and wood is recycled, our plywood reels come from sustainable sources and our wooden drums are reused.”
Philip Brown, Managing Director, says, “It is very important to us that the efforts we continually put into reducing our impact on the environment have been documented. This will continue to be a focus as the company grows and we are proud to be one of a few companies in the UK cable industry to hold this accreditation.”

PADS Approved Screening Cable - Exclusive From Eland Cables

Eland Cables is a leading supplier of cables to the rail sector with a large stockholding of rail cables and a proven track record of supply to the rail industry. Eland Cables has recently been PADS listed as the sole UK approved supplier to Network Rail infrastructure for PVC and LSZH sheathed Screening Conductor cable and is also approved as a supplier of Bare Conductor.
These cables are used in overhead line projects and in a range of trackside applications to screen telecommunication cables from electrical interference. Recently they were used in the West Coast Route Modernisation project and they are also being supplied against Network Rail’s ongoing maintenance requirements.
