Running Season has Begun

8th June 2008
It's that time of year again when we forsake the boring treadmill for the great outdoors and put our legs to use for a good cause. Suzanne, Graphic Designer and Becky, Marketing Executive made us proud at the recent 5km Race for Life Run in Hampstead Heath. They managed to get fit, raise money for Breast Cancer and get some sun all at once. Both Suzanne and Becky will also be participating in the upcoming London 10km Run. Watch this space to see how we all do.
Eland Artist in Residence

6th June 2008
Toby Ward’s spectacular ‘Tour de France’ painting takes pride of place in the reception of our London office, so we were elated when he paid us a visit to see it hung and to tell us a bit more about how it all came together. ‘Tour de France’ is an amalgamation of real life and the imaginary, but as is always the case with Toby’s work, people are integral.
The painting is a true reflection of the determination, teamwork and people focus that is at the heart of Eland’s culture. The painting is the perfect addition to our offices (and the perfect partner for our orange carpet). We just hope this is only the start of our collection!
Friday Drinks go off the Rails

3rd June 2008
It was the Rail Cable Department's turn to prepare Friday Drinks last month and we anticipated great things after the last 2 months of impressive efforts made in this competition. Their theme was appropriately chosen as the Euro 2008, and we were treated with European finger-foods, beer and a real-life miniature football pitch right here in the office. Thankfully no windows were broken during the indoor game, we suspect Jacqui's tights may be slightly the worse for wear. Look out for Purchasing Drinks this month.
Football Fever

2nd June 2008
The annual Eland Cables Cup Final took place on Saturday in Doncaster. Much to everyone’s delight, it was a wonderfully hot and sunny day.
The heat was also turned up on the pitch as London tried to hold onto the title from last year, while Doncaster, with the home advantage, were determined to take the cup home. A second goal led Doncaster to a 2-1 victory, proving that teamwork on and off the pitch is a recipe for success. A fantastic day was had by all and well done to the players!
